Super Mario Bros. Crossover

So I know this has been mentioned before, but not in this decade. For those that don't know, it's Super Mario Bros. (Or SMB: Lost Levels or SMB Special) playable with characters from other games. And unlike a simple romhack, changing characters gives the abilities of those characters. For example, Link has a sword, Bill from Contra uses guns. There's an almost infinite number of ways to play the game, from different abilities, to many different skins for both the characters and the backgrounds. It's a really awesome game.

Anyway, it was made to be played online in a browser using Adobe Flash, of course Flash has been discontinued, and the game is no longer playable on the original Exploding Rabbit website. Fortunately, other folks have already done most of the hard work solving those problems, allowing the latest/ last version playable offline, and without worrying about flash limitations. More info can be found here:

Here's about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/retrogaming/comments/ifeke7/super_mario_bros_crossover_dx_fangame_latest/

The Reddit post contains some stetchy links to the game, but someone uploaded it to Google Drive here:

My question for the smart folks here, can someone take the game a few steps further? Such as keeping offline mode always enabled, and just generally making it behave more like an arcade game, without having to use a mouse, see any of the startup files, things like that?
