My First Cab

I finished my first cab last week. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out since it was my first one.. what do you guys think?

Looks good man.  Whats the bottom right button on each side for?  I know the thumb button for neo geo, but I don't know the other one.  Hey is that one of those anodized spinner knobs?  I really like the way it looks in that picture, makes me want to get one if I had some money to, but being a poor college student, you know how that goes.

your cp looks real nice...i have a question. how did you get your box underneath your cp (the part that holds the ipac or encoder or whatever) to look so clean on the outside?  what i mean is, you have angled cuts to make the box look clean, how did you get it like this?  table saw?

The extra button on the bottom right is in case I decide to add some PC games to the cabinet that require extra keys. It's much easier to have an extra button now then to try to add one later.... The spinner is an anodized red spinner from slikstik. The only thing that I don't like about it is that since it is so dry in my house right now I found out that a static shock to the spinner temporarily locks up the computer.

For the top and bottom of the control panel, the angles were cut using a jigsaw and a guide. A miter saw was used to cut the boards that form the middle of the cp box. The control panel can easily be opened too....

okay, i dont have a miter saw, but do you think i could cut the pieces, and then take them to home depot or something and have them cut it for me?  has anyone done this before?

Thats why it's nice to have a dad who is a carpenter He did just about all of the wood work for me and he already had all the tools needed.... Some of the angle cuts ended up being like 11 and 13 degrees.... I don't know how much specialty cutting Home Depot will do or if they just do straight cuts.

Nope, it's against their policy.  They will cut pieces if you buy the wood in the store right then, but only rip cuts.

crap!  well i guess ill need to either buy a router or find somebody that has one.  i know that home depot rents tools....anyone know how much they would run?

sucks cuz my older brother is a sales rep for porter cable and has like 3 or 4 routers in his garage, as well as 3 miter saws....geez

Hey great looking panel. Now I suggest you you find a way to groung the metal chassi of your spinner. If giving it a static shock hangs the computer it's only a matter of time before a shock kills the computer.

Run a wire from the chassis of your spinner to the body of the power supply on your computer. That will either take care of that problem, or make it worse. (Should take care of it).

If it makes it worse, then instead run the wire to the THIRD PRONG of the power coming into your computer (earth ground) it has to be the third prong though, don't mess up and run it to one of the other 2.

Earlier today I ran a wire from chassis of the spinner to a ground point in the cab and it seems much better. I zapped myself a few times today, which didnt feel too good, but the computer didn't freeze up so thats good
