Hyperspin key press glitch
« on: April 09, 2016, 01:50:37 pm »
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows of a fix.  Hyperspin (1.4) has been acting funky when it comes to the start key press.  I have the start command keyed to the 'G' key (P1B1) in HyperHQ currently which generally works as it's supposed to.  However, when I have the joystick controls set up for my U360's and checked in HyperHQ and hit the start key while in a system wheel in HS a glitch occurs.  The game will still start up as intended, however right before it does the wheel shifts up by a varying degree.  While not completely terrible in and of itself, the video for whatever game it flips to begins to play as the ROM is fired up and the sound for both winds up playing.

So to try to remedy this I disabled the joysticks in HyperHQ and set the 2 U360's up using both JoyToKey and Xpadder and then set them to appropriate keyboard buttons that don't overlap any other buttons.  However, the start button still spins the wheel up and causes the same issue.  In both cases it seems to do that a majority of the time, but from time to time it will fire up as it's supposed to with no wheel spin.

I have been able to successfully avoid the "bonus" wheel spin by setting the wheel navigation buttons in HyperHQ to the buttons that correspond to the keys on my 8way joystick for third player.  This works the wheel properly and doesn't spin the wheel on game start.

Does anyone by chance know why HS may be doing this during those first two setups?  Preferably I'd like to be able to use JoyToKey or Xpadder as a solution to make setting up Retroarch easier for me, but right now I'll humor any ideas.  Thanks in advance!

PS I'm using an Ipac 4 in case that makes a difference.

Small update.  It appears that windows is recognizing the Ipac4 as a game controller, which is fine as it has done that from the beginning.  However, all of a sudden it seems to want to recognize the P1B1 as a game pad button instead of a keyboard button.  Any thoughts as to why that might be would be appreciated.

My HS setup is basically the same as that, which is what's confusing me.  I don't see why that button is being registered as 2 unique keybinds when it comes to HS.  In game it doesn't seem to cause a problem, only when selecting from the wheel.  The weird thing is that it even occurs when I press the actual key on the keyboard which leads me to believe Xpadder/joytokey is doing something behind the scenes that I can't figure out.
