Proof of a working ikegami with arcadevga 7000 chipset connected

Nice detail: all my systems are configured with double cards, 4 outputs.
The non ultimarc card, a ati 7000 pci, also works with the ikegami.
Clearly the monitor works with older cards out of the box.

Besides soldering resistors, would this be an option?

That sounds like a perfect solution (although a bit overkill maybe).

And we have a working ikegami!
Got hold of an old extron pa 250, connected h/v with a t-piece @input extron, connected only RGB @output to monitor and voilą, results.

No soldering for me, this works just fine.
Thanks all for the input, it helped a lot in pinning down the cause of the problem.
Only thing still remaining is the vertical centering but maybe I can juggle that with arcadeosd and the VBP.

Hehe! You know, I have a similar problem with a Hantarex editing monitor that I picked up last year. Couldn't get the damn thing to sync (even though I can see the RGB is making it through). The input is a non-standard 9 pin D-Sub and, aside from the RGB pins, I can't work out what the H & V are or if at actually expects composite sync.

Most people are infatuated with there PVMs but it fun to see some other brands being hooked up to GroovyMAME.

This monitor is totally cool and retro, it was worth the effort.
This time I needed something smaller, on my desk, without turning blind.
A 14" brings back the C64 / Amiga feel.
This was fun and finding an alternative solution was part of it.

Yeah, sounds great! I like it.

BTW, some months ago I finally got a collection of identical 14 inch TVs (two Thomsons and an RCA - all the same chassis type) for a Buggy Boy setup. However, finding the time to set it up has proved tricky. They're there for a rainy day...

Rain, storm,  earthquakes?

Buggy boy is way cool so U better get going.
If you bump into some stuff let me know when setting up.

Interesting. At some point I bumped in some situations. With another monitor, another driver and OS there are a lot of parameters going on at once.

First the setup: I can't get 4 outputs with crtemudriver 2.0 win7 to work at the custom resolutions.
Only one card with two outputs has all the resolutions vmmaker created.
After some installing and uninstalling I can't get this to work.

Then the Ikegami: at some point it only showed blue, still not sure what caused this.
Of course I switched adapters and cables but get this: I connected it without extron straight the Ati 4890, installed powerstrip, turned on composite sync in powerstrip AND activated internal sync Ikegami.

Guess what: great picture.

Powerstrip also helps with the vertical adjustment, the only preset that's working in GM is PAL.

So: any ideas how I can get all the VMM resolutions @4 outputs?

And:

- how can it be that the composite sync switch in powerstrip eleminates the need for extrons or resistors? Can I do without powerstrip?

It's pretty obvious: c-sync is the whole reason you bought that extron for. You can get crappy c-sync by using a T connector, but it's not good enough for your picky Ikegami. ATI cards can output c-sync natively but I haven't found a way to do that reliably by registry methods. Try Winmodelines, it has a c-sync switch which you can try.

With regards to getting custom video through 4 outputs, be aware this is an untested scenario. But you should be able to do it by pointing to the right video cards when creating the modes in vmmaker.

Thanks Calamity,

I hope I didn't blow my cards this evening.
Picked up a cult vga-db9 cable in a thrift store in Denmark last week during vacation.
Somehow, when connecting this cable to my Barco, the PC system started pumping and sweating, ventilators went wild. After disconnecting the cable the system crashed with a blue screen of death. Looks like the cable drew power from the system.

I have no errors after that but output is sometimes only blue strange enough
I'll gielve winmodelines a try.
Is it possible that this picky ikegami only responds well with PAL presets?

Ok, it took some time to find the culprit for the blue screens. A faulty dvi-vga adapter with not reliable output.
So this time I used vmmaker pal preset, added magic modes, download the gm alpha asio version, followed the installation walkthroughs and I'm very satisfied with the results!

The magic resolutions are really great, the extron also pumps up the signal a bit and the low latency audio works terrific.

Thanks a lot all you guys, the quality is amazing!

Do you mean "super" resolutions (instead of "magic")?

Yeah, super I think. 2560x0,  clean stretch 2.
Looks awesome, also in other emulators like winuae. 2560x256

I'm not gonna start a new thread about the following.
I've been trying out settings now for months with win7 and crt emu tools 2.0
Results are also great on the 27" screens with the super resolutions.
The quality is like I remember from the arcades.

Thanx again!
