Wii online was killed off so a major playing part in MC Wii is gone.

i personally like DD more.

Mario Kart 8.

But if that's not a choice: Mario Kart Wii.   (EDIT - due to quantity of available tracks vs. DD)

Gameplay balance was way off for me in MK Wii...too many 'come from behind' wins with the Bullet Bill...not enough emphasis on skill to win. Mario Kart 8 is much better in this regard.

I definitely prefer Double Dash of those two.

I've enjoyed Mario Kart Wii more than any of them up to that point. I still play it at least once a week with my wife.

I thought Double Dash was a really lousy entry, to be honest.  Mario Kart Wii was pretty good but it was mostly the same game as the DS version.  3DS and Wii U ones bored me to tears and I won't be buying another one.

Not sure how you didn't like 8... it's the best in the series since the Nintendo 64 version.  I wore that thing out for a solid year with online play.  I'll agree with the peanut gallery though, both the wii version and DD kind of sucked.... I would say ignoring 8 the best one is Mario Kart 64 and any entry leading up to 8 is really passable.

Double Dash is definitely my least favorite.

They should have quit after Mario Kart 64.

I play the Wii version way more than I do 64.

64 was the king... until 8 came out.  It's amazing how much they got right on that one, especially the online play.

Only thing I dislike in Mario Kart 8 is the battle modes. I wish they had included real arenas, rather than reusing the normal tracks. Mario Kart Wii's battle modes were much more fun than Mario Kart 8's, in my opinion.
