Help fixing a replacement Electrohome G07
« on: December 08, 2015, 10:09:23 am »
Hello,

I'm in the process of restoring a cabinet to transform it into a Mame Cabinet. The cabinet doesn't have a specific brand. Here in my country most of these were hand built locally. The monitor is not Electrohome but from the links I've found here in the forum to help me Identify it, the closest thing I've seen is an Eygo G07 replacement chassis. The colors don't match, though. I'll leave the pictures below.

The monitor itself looks decent. It has convergence issues but nothing that can't be fixed. The colors are vibrant which leads me to believe that it was recently recapped or that the tube is relatively new (It is a chinese brand and it doesn't look particularly old). The issue I have, though, is that the monitor loses focus every after a few moments and then regains it. This happens all the time starting on power up. It's not extreme, but it's noticeable. I, obviously, handled the focus pot on the flyback transformer and it made it better but it still loses focus and regains it every now and then.

I've read online that I should try a recap, however there's a chance that the flyback transformer is starting to fail. A failing flyback transformer could cause all sorts of problems so if I can replace it, I'd rather do it together with the caps. But here's the deal, I don't really know how to find a replacement one given that I'm not really sure which chassis this is.

The pictures are attached. Any help would be appreciated. It's already hard enough to find a working arcade monitor here, I'm looking forward to not having this one die before I can actually make use of it.

VERY CAREFULLY make sure that your high voltage anode (the big red sucker cup thing) is firmly seated.  Also, is it really humid where you are?  I once put a G07 back together in my garage and for the first few minutes it was fuzzy--the only thing i could think of was that i got some moisture in the tiny hole at the top of the tube--it cleared up and didn't come back..
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...
