I've Googled for this and searched on this board, but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.  My nephews are coming to visit and they always want to play on the arcade cab of course.  I've recently upgraded the machine, and I've loaded Hyperspin on it.  I've only got about 100 games in total on it for the time being and they are all MAME.  So what I want to be able to do is only show games that are okay for young kids, but then when the kids are in bed and my brother and I want to play...Smash TV or Mortal Kombat, I can either do a keyboard combo to change to another list, or something else.

I've seen some custom key combo stuff in RocketLauncher, but I'm unsure of whether or not I can use it for this purpose.  I don't mind having my keyboard/mouse handy to do a few clicks in order to get my bloody game list up, but I'd rather not have to do a bunch of list generating and re-sync'ing and all that.  Help please, thanks.

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Make a custom xml with Don's Hyperspin tools. You'll only have to place that copy in the same place with same name (overwrite) when time comes. Easy as alt&tab, c and v.

ah nice, good idea...I'll do that.  I am surprised that there isn't a more elegant way of accomplishing the same thing.  Even something like a push button on top of the cabinet or something that would trigger the alternate games list.  Thinking about it, I wonder if I could just make a batch script or vbscript or something that would do the following:

(forgive the directory and name inaccuracies...I don't have the arcade cab in front of me)

1. copy c:\gamesfilter\adult\gameslist.xml
2. paste gameslist.xml to c:\hyperspin\gameslist\gameslist.xml
3.  refresh Hyperspin.exe

I don't know the particulars of all that, but it seems like something that would be fairly straight forward.  Any thoughts?
