cheap cockpit conversion

I slapped this together today with a xbox, tv, and a steering wheel. Eventually I want to set this up right but for now its pretty cool being able to drive.

Hmmm, dreamcast... I can't imagine any dreamcast game being better than the current offerings on the xbox. There are a lot of really cool racers on the xbox.

PGR2 looks great.  But the lighting doesn't quite convince me.   I look forward to GT4, although that's a PS2-only title.   Movies I have seen so far are outstanding.

Great sitdown.  Might convince my wife some day...

Thats the server rack in my basement. :) I have servers racked in it and a tape loader. and those 2 black boxes next to the rack those are 250 disk cd changers. Doesn't every body have servers racked in there basement?

Eightbit.

I've got the same type of mockup that you are doing (waiting to borrow a digital cam to slap some pictures up here).

I'm using the Dreamcast though for a simple reason.  Money.  I had everything sitting around, I had gotten a really nice wheel and pedal set from Act Labs (when they were closing them out for like $15).  I'm a driving game freak so I had about 15 driving titles laying around for it.

There are some really fun arcade ports that are great for having friends over.  Daytona USA, 18 Wheeler, and especially San Francisco Rush 2049 are great fun, and you can get into them very quickly.  Bleemcast allows Gran Turismo 2 on it and there are about 10 other driving titles I have that I'm working through (I got the cabinet just last weekend).

Its a great deal of fun, as I am sure you know.

My boss built one out of a trashed roadblasters cockpit. Its really a lot of fun. Its surprising how loud you can turn the sound up without disturbing people outside of the cab.

Whoo great idea! If you have a wireless router get get the 810+ that way there is only the power cable running to the cabinet.

PS who makes the wheel?
Curls in the squat rack !?!?!

Well since it does have a power cord and can't be wireless why not just have the extra network wire?

If I remember correctly its a mad Katz wheel. It doesn't have vibration and only works with the xbox. I received a new wheel on Monday with vibration and it works with xbox/gamecube/ps2. I got it on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3067568295&category=20385&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1 Their picture showed it as red but I received a blue one. The blue coordinates with my cabinet so I was happy to see that. Plus the new steering wheel will be much easier to integrate to make it look like it belongs.

I also  have a video cable that has all 3 game connectors on it so swapping which console you want in it will be simple. I'm still deciding where to put the console. I might make a shelf above the pedals and recess it their to make disk swapping super easy.
