LCD Marquee Monitor
« on: May 11, 2017, 02:05:46 pm »
I haven't yet checked into any of the programs that would be used to put the proper marquee up when playing a game, so I don't know how they detect which game is being played.  Simple question....Would any/all work with MameWah as the frontend?  (I don't know if it detects the game through MAME, the frontend, or some other way)

Mamehooker detects it via MAME itself.

MAME itself also has support for it if you make a layout file.

If you're just using mame in your cab, I think you have lots of options. Think some others have even just used Mame itself to display the marquee file on a separate display?

If you're looking to use other systems on your cab, you'll need other options. I have separate LCD displays for marquees and controls and wrote this app to populate both:

You can use scrollers, videos, flash, gifs etc on your marquee displays if you so wish (although I jst stick with images to keep it trad)

Mamehooker will do mame, supermodel and mess natively.  It will also do any emulator with the game title in the window title with a bit of setup.

I've found the real problem isn't the software, but finding a suitable monitor for the marquee at a good price.
