HBMAME
« on: October 09, 2015, 10:35:50 am »
Not sure how many folks are running HBMAME, but I am running into an issue.  clrmamepro results show a complete set. However, hbmame.lst shows at least one file, dkongp, that isn't in my set. If I run hbmame64 dkongp -lr  It shows required roms that are identical to what is shown for dkong.  So.. question is, what is right? Has dkong set been replaced with the dkongp set? Why are both listed in the .lst if they are identical? Am I doing something retarded?  :dunno

As far as I know dkongp does not exist in the official MAME game list. There is a hack called dkongpe (Donkey Kong Pauline Edition) for which you can patch the MAME sources: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,147340.0.html

Oh I know it isn't official mame.. I am talking about home brew. I compiled new HBMAME, used clrmamepro to build a complete set. then checked the hbmame.lst against the the set. I can see dkongp in the list as well as dkong. The thing is they both require the exact same files. Surely something is incorrect somewhere? if they are exactly the same one should be gone. I think.. unless, like I said, I am retarded about something. Which is entirely possible. In fact, this shouldn't really be a big deal, but my OCD is kicking in, and I just want it all to line up.

You might have noticed that dkongp has the word (patched) in its title. It uses the standard dkong roms, which are patched at run time, to remove a bunch of bugs.

http://www.donhodges.com/how_high_can_you_get.htm

That's why it uses the same roms.

As for Donkey Kong Pauline Edition, HBMAME was the first emulator to have it, and the set name is pauline. No idea who called it dkongpe or why.

Only the guy who created it did  ::) The game is called Donkey Kong Pauline Edition so dkongpe isn't that bad...
