  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Since Mame .162 the wife has actually started to play some arcade games with me, what a fantastic excuse to build a Golden Tee / Trackball Pedestal arcade.

The cabinet is far from perfect, it is what I would call a prototype, learning from my mistakes and will improve on the next one.

This one is going to end up at a friends house, he is going to cover all costs and buy me a handle of Crown Apple, seems like a great deal.

Here are a few pics.

I am using a Utrak Trackball and an 2015 Ipac2 for the interface, Made the control panel easily removable with a simple Cat5 female to female coupler.. I have left space on either side of the trackball for joysticks, since I personally would not own a cabinet that you cant play Robotron on I have left that option open for my friend.  Could easily install just one 4 way joystick to the left of the trackball and use the 2 buttons on the right for hundreds of classics, totally up to him.  Wife made me keep the control panel as basic as I could which is why the admin buttons were installed on the front of the cab, I am glad she did, I like it a lot.  Using the player 1 button as the shift key and have pause and volume control setup with some of the other keys, great features of the new Ipac2.

Once the PC arrives I plan to get external power connector wired up and have a keystone with VGA, 3.5mm Audio, Network, USB and HDMI connections, may have to install a couple fans.. Do not think speakers will be necessary as he plans to use the TV or hook it into his stereo.  When I do mine I will most likely have maybe a Dolby 2.1 setup, with a couple speakers and a small sub, nothing overwhelming..

Thanks to jikkjacks Golden Tee Cabinet for all the inspiration and templates he so generously has linked..  Gotta love this site..  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,104064.0.html
Also thank a lot to dkersten for his tutorial for mounting the Utrak, seriously folks, there is no good reason to do it any other way..   http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,140560.0.html

Finally thanks to Tim Swanson for all your help.. He is not a member here or anything, but a good friend..

Created some Artwork, hope I can get it printed and cutout without messing it all up.  :-)
