  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Trying to avoid using a power strip inside my JAMMA cab...can I strip the power cord from my LCD monitor and tap it into the AC/L AC/N and GND on my power supply? I figured it would just feed power right from the incoming AC.

Thanks!

Thats what I did on my Mom's MsPac cab:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,138831.msg1435053.html

I ran the power cord to the switching power supply then ran power from the screw terminals to the LCD and marquee light.  No issues or fires (yet)  :afro:

Nice! It's hard for me to make out, but it seems like that is essentially what I am proposing to do:

- Run power from the wall to the power supply
- Run the 3 power wires from the LCD into those screw terminals that the main power cord uses.

I am quite certain there are better electrical terms to use than "wall" and "power wires" but you get the picture. It looks like you take it even a step further by also running the marquee light into that as well! I might do that too. :)

Doing this doesn't cause any distortion in the picture I assume?

Thank you!

The phase wire is black  , the neutral is white, and the ground/earth ground is green or green with yellow stripe.  I admit I didnt take a very good picture :(

I ran the cord in from the wall to the correct screw terminals, I actually spliced the wires that run to the LCD with the "wall wires" prior to affixing them to the power supply screw terminals.  Adding the marquee light was kind of an afterthought, so thats why its wired to the left of the power supply when the rest is ran from the right.

No distortion in the picture at all, but I am running a 60 in 1 board not a MAME PC or anything.

Awesome. Thanks for the clarification. I'm also running a JAMMA multi board.

Thanks again.
