Best way to sort...
« on: January 01, 2004, 01:21:45 am »
Hello everyone...
What is the best way to sort my roms?  I only want roms with a horizontal orientation, trackball, and one button.  Or is there a front end that can handle it?

Thanks again,
Southpaw

Download the sortInfo tool from this website to make lists of games.  It will sort the roms into the categories you stated.  This should get you started.  Unfortunately, I do not know of a front end that does the sorting for you.  Maybe someone else does.  Mamewah has catver.ini filtering but I am not sure if it has the categories you are looking for.  You may want to check that out.

Get sortinfo here:

Mamewah has catver.ini filtering but I am not sure if it has the categories you are looking for.

It also can filter on clones, year, manufacturer, input type, screen orientation, screen type, BIOS, general status, sounds status and color status.

The one thing it can't currently do is filter on no. buttons tho :(

Thanks for your help...
Most of the sorting programs like sort info don't seem to work with the newer versions of mame.  It only picked up 52 games for me with the listinfo option.

I'm going to try Howards...

But I would also love to see Mamewah add the button option....

Is there a way to import listinfo into excel and sort it myself?

Thanks again...

I only get 40 horizontal trackball games (not inc. clones) using my v0.76 set.  Ones playable with 1 button or less are:

Atari Baseball
Atari Football
Atari Soccer
Ataxx
Basketball
Crystal Castles
Extra Bases
Gimme a Break
Gridiron Fight
Gridlee
Marble Madness
Mini Golf
Reactor
Snacks'n Jaxson
Sonic
Spiker
Syvalion

I will be adding more filter options based on controller stuff from the controls.dat project eventually...

For the list:  I don't see any horizontal bowling games.
I bet they are 2 or 3 button games.  Could I bother you for those lists also if they aren't too hard to generate?

Thanks!

You should be able to get them yourself with SortInfo. I know it doesn't work with Mame .75 , .76 and the recent .78 release. But you could use .77 (I don't think there were any trackball additions in .78).

Here's a list of all trackball games (according to listinfo) sorted by number of buttons. If you want you can rename it to trackballgames.csv and load it into Excel to play around with it.

Here's another csv file, this time with a clone column so clones stay at the end of the list.
