Re-capping problems

So, I've got this LCD TV that I got a cap kit for and I'm having a hell of a problem.  It seems that all the through holes on the board are plated vias.  That means that solder is not just on the pads and cap legs, but the whole damn hole.  This is making the entire board act like a heat sink and making it VERY hard to unsolder the old caps and near impossible to get a new cap in.

Suggestions or tips?

how much did your solder station cost you?
mine cost about $300-gives you an ided of quality

I refuse to answer on the grounds that the community may laugh.

Honestly, it is just a cheap Radio Shack 20/40 watt iron with a bad tip.  Turns out the tip isn't even replaceable and it's deteriorated very badly, so I'll be getting a new iron shortly.

Its got to do with thermal mass. You might try pre-heating the area with a blowdryer on high setting, its that or invest in a better iron.  ;D
