I found a cheep large 3:4 LCD and was wondering if it worth the effort to fix.

Is that the scratch next to the blue thing? It doesn't look that bad. For guests they would hardly notice. But it would bug the Hell out of me.

Yep. I found a bunch of DYI fixes for a scratched LCD was wondering if any one has had any luck.

Not very much. I had an LG that was scratched during a botched repair from the repairman. The jackass offered to buy it from me for about $20 (to salvage the parts) but he was the one that screwed up the repair. At least he "agreed" not to charge me for the service call. Bleh... The problem is similar to CRTs, the front had a matte coating to prevent glare and most fixes also "polished" the matte. It seems most solutions assume a glossy screen.

I really only experimented a bit before tossing it into the parts box. I decided it was a put up or shut up kind of thing.

Rub vaseline on the scratch or hit the whole thing with a layer of clear.

Squirt lighter fluid on the monitor.  How it looks then is how it will look with a layer of clear.

Vaseline and light sanding all work poorly.  If it is too bad too buff out then the best idea is to get a new cheap LCD monitor or live with the scratch behind some colored plexi.

If you really want to save it you could try to remove the anti-glare layer that's scratched.
The diy LCD projector community did it frequently to increase brightness in their builds.

here is a guide

This guy is doing it for different reasons but the process is still the same.
