I agree, especially with as long as it takes some people to finish their projects.

--- Quote from: saint on February 16, 2015, 10:13:20 am ---I am open to suggestions on any changes to make. I'll add a couple of things to the mix:

I have changed people's usernames before at their request when they've wanted to scrub their Internet presence. In that case the content remained, but the name no longer related.

I have modified or removed very old posts before when someone had a similar situation but no longer had access, again at their request. I was able to do so in a way that minimized the effect on the thread.

Since it sounds like you are willing to work out alternative solutions and ultimately honor requests like this, I am all for putting down some limitations to the account as long as they don't inconvenience regular use.

I have come to the realization that that there are far more people than I thought who lurk here, who learn from projects and ideas and who study the information we put up. Offering alternative solutions to deleting every single post might be the best thing we can do. I met someone on the street the other day who after talking arcade cabinets for 5 minutes I found out he knew me, knew my projects, knew the projects of a lot of members here. and was excited to start his own project.

Are there capabilities to do something like limit the number of edits per week/day/hour? I'd think that 15 edits per hour maximum wouldn't affect anyone unless they are going through a mass deletion, or very, very, very pedantic.

Not finding a mod for that so far. Will keep looking for options.

I had a similar experience, only mine was after checking into a hotel I ran into the receptionist later that day and she informed me that she really liked my arcade cabinets and was now following me on youtube.  I think she saw my eyes go a little wide so she started into the whole loud laughing "I'm not a stalker" routine - as I started backing towards the door.  The only difference between a creepy stalker and and a stranger taking a friendly interest into your web presence after initial introductions is sexual attraction.  She was solidly in the Stalker camp.

The fact that it should be some kind of corporate ethic violation to google the guests of your establishment aside, that totally creeped me out.  I'm for my anonymity.  I just need to do a better job of cultivating that anonymity.

Cool story, bro.
