My introduction
« on: May 21, 2004, 03:20:53 pm »
Hello everyone... just joined today...I've been here a few times looking around and decided to join...I got hooked on the idea after seeing a cocktial cabinet done on techtv and i got to thinking.... yeah, I can do that! so then I started.... currently I've built a cocktail cabinet I haven't put in the guts yet, hope to get back to that soon and finish it up...because I'm itching to start on my upright models....one will be made using an old atari just because I've allways wanted to do that since my childhood but the second (gonna build at the same time) will be a mame machine so I may have a few questions along the way....

Welcome  :),

I think it would be interesting to find out how people came to know about this site and got interested in this hobby.  I know various tv and magazines have talked about it, and it would be interesting to know how many people bought the book and joined the site via that route.  As for me, I've been using MAME for a number of years now and just happened across a webpage where the guy was building his own arcade cabinet which then lead me to here.  It's taken me forever to get started (bought my empty cabinet almost 2 years ago and finally almost have it to a point where it should be playable).  Mostly due to lack of time, and having to rely on other people to be home so I could work on it (living in an apartment and trying to refinish a cabinet isn't always the easiest thing).   ::)

It's safe to assume this cocktail is done 10+ years later, right?

RIGHT?!

George Carlin once pointed out that it's perfectly legal to advertise cocktails, but if you try to sell cock or tail, it's straight to jail for you. The injustice of it all.

That counts.. It is in use. You can say that it is used daily as opposed to most of our cabs.
