MDF vs PVC

I see a few people are selling PVC Foamex bartop kits which are generally a bit more expensive than MDF.  Is this a good material to use?  Is it as rigid at MDF?

well, a quick google search of foamex panels brings up that its pvc panel material used for sign boards.  The thickness listed by the manufacturer (FXI now) shows a max thickness of 10mm.    It should be quite a bit lighter than an MDF bartop.  I'm guessing that its probably about as sturdy as one made out of Plexi, and as such would be dependent upon how much bracing was built into it.    If you drop the foamex name and just toss in PVC to the search this comes up.

Yeah. they are the PVC kits I'm talking about.  I heard the name Foamex in relation to one of those kits somewhere.  They are around £30 more expensive than MDF.  Yes I think they are around 10mm but not 100% sure.  I guess the material just costs more than wood, or perhaps because you don't have to paint it (if you want it white).  Just wondered if anyone had used it and how good it is.
