I really have to go with the darker scheme as there really isn't any other colors besides grey, black, and red that match the rest of the cabinet.

Wasn't sure if the Messatsu logo would look good, but Ill let you guys be the judge. Either way, great progress since we started I agree!

BTW, keep the kanji character, regardless on whether you do light or dark.

Is the white highlight at the top of the marquee intentional?

Also do you have a shot of it without the messatsu?

Do you have your marquee box built? While the marquee holder cover the top or bottom? Lots of work done here, it'd be a shame to have the marquee holder cover part of it.

Adding a light gray or even white edge around the text and maybe even around the characters pops them out of the black more...

Trying to match the orange/yellow tint on evil ryu's back to the stroke outlining for the text. Also removed the white gloss from the top

I like that orange.

I can see how the hand gets lost in the black. Maybe a faint layer of white, or even that orange just around the hand.

i've enjoyed the evolution of your art. Do you mind pushing up the .PSD and i'll see what i can do?
Seems to me you need the marquee to take on the properties of the control panel. As they currently look they differ to much for my liking. The reds are too pink and the background texture is wrong on the marquee

OK - the download was corrupted for me. But that's not a biggy.
I like to do big and bold without overcrowding - so this is how i'd do a dark scene with Akuma.
I've highlighted his face and arm to take the lighting from the text. It may need some tweaking but i think it looks balanced (with some interesting weight on the text)
Have a play with it as you might be able to make it better or add different characters - Upto you if you use it

I cannot express how grateful I am that you guys took the time to respond and helped me create something far more better than anything I could have done on my own. Again..

Still debating on whether the other pic of Akuma looked better but either way the style of the marquee is exactly what I was hoping for.

Personally, not a fan of the text. Don't like the big "U" or the faux chrome. I like the examples with the simpler colored text. But either way, I've enjoyed the evolution.

yes art is the hardest part - if you're in no hurry sit on the design for a bit then re visit it.
Beware tho - i did this for the best part a year before printing

I'd have to agree with Yotsuya & Malenko -- Also might want to move the text a bit so it doen't block the characters. (perhaps something like below)

Its been awhile, had a chance to take a break from this for a bit and finish up the cab. At the point now where its just the marquee.

This is my final version.....I hope!

Im satisfied with this. If anything I can always make multiple marquees.
