LOl--i thought it was sort of cool, when it was in spanish--I envisioned it to be some well thought out statement of succumbing to the big corporation, being a drone blah blah blah.  The I read it a realize how truly lame it was (if translation was correct)  This guy went from beeing a "leet hacker" to leet loser

yeah I know where is Matrix Reloaded?  He put together that great website to host all the vector files then basically up and vanished

not vanished, but when you're the IT director for a company bringing on three new offices while at the same time running a radio station and of course don't forget building a recording studio in his house, things tend to take a while to get done.

In this case apparently someone from our cleaning crew decided to jump on a server that was not locked and surf a few pron sites. (not a smart thing to do when there is a camera in the server room) and managed to get a virus on our web server. Wouldn't ya know, the only site hacked was the mametrix-reloaded site.

If there is anyone out there that knows php and microsoft SQL server and would like to spend a little time making the library a bit more usable, pm me and we'll see what we can get going. At this point, the arcade is just one of the hobbies, but I have all this lovely bandwidth going to waste so I offered it up.

FYI, the site is also backed up as part of our routine daily backup. The only thing that will kill it at this point would be me losing my job, (not likely) and even then, it would stay up long enough for me to download everything to a local server on my dsl at home.

yeah I figured you didnt disappear I was just trying to get your attention  I know how it is with the who 'real world' stuff...   anyways, i dont think that setting up a database for this vector artwork is necessary.  Just need someone who can admin it and make changes and make sure stuff is working all the time. There's been some problems with it lately.

ok, found the main problem with the site. It appears a few people don't read the part about trying not to make the jpg wider than 150 pixels. The server re-sizes it each time it displays the graphic if it's larger, and a few people uploaded some that were as wide as 1800 Pixels!!

I have re-sized everything and it appears to be loading fine at the moment. I'm also gong to drop the ai file and go with the EPS only as it's a universal format, and if you're using Illustrator, you can save it as an EPS anyway.

Please please try and make the jpgs only 150 wide.

One thing that would be cool is if we could edit the entries after they're uploaded.  For example, I left out something on the Midway logo I just uploaded (the (R) symbol).

My only concern with allowing updates is keeping someone from getting ticked off and removing their items, or replacing them with phony files.

although I guess that if someone no longer wants to contribute and have their stuff up there, that's their choice. It just creates another nightmare in creating logins for the site.

The other option would be if someone wants to volunteer to manage the library I could give them ftp access and users could send them the updates.

  What about switching to one of the many free CMS packages out there? Something like PostNuke with Gallery might work quite nicely.
