Ms. Pacman Cocktail Artwork
« on: September 29, 2014, 05:03:50 pm »
So I just acquired a Ms. Pacman cocktail that is fully working but has some bad corners on the "feet" portion of the cabinet.  Chipped corners and missing t-molding.  With the help of a friend that owns a wood working shop, instead of trying to fix the corners and whatnot, I think I am just going to disassemble the cabinet and use a jigsaw or router to trace the old pieces of the cabinet to make an exact replica.  After that is done, instead of keeping the wood, cocktail look I was going to spruce it up a bit so it stands out in the game room.

I am feeling some inspiration from this cocktail refurb and I think it looks great.

But my question is, how would I reproduce his artwork or something close to it?   The Ms. Pacman paint color should be easy enough to find, however I would like to use that artwork.  As far as I can tell, it is just smaller sized version of the upright artwork.  I would be ok with this being a vinyl or some other sort of adhesive since it would probably be tough to find a stencil set to look like that and my painting skills are pretty much garbage.

Any help or ideas anyone can throw out to me would be greatly appreciated.  Hopefully, this won't cost me hundreds and hundreds of dollars just for the artwork.  Perhaps there is someone on the board that can do this for me?  If not, I will have to track down someone here in town and I don't know if we have someone in this small of a community.

Thanks.

Many of the pieces you would need can be found in vector (.ai) format here ( http://vectorlib.free.fr/MsPacMan/ ) which could be resized and arranged the way you want and then you could have vinyl printed.

Awesome.  Thank you for the link.  I assume those are illustrator files?  And any person with knowledge of illustrator or PS would know which size to shrink them down to?

Thanks JDFan

That Ms Pac was done by a local guy here in Ontario.
He has done some AMAZING cocktails that I've seen.
He has taken the art to another level.
I think that it makes it so much better than the woodgrian cabinets people are used to.
I think they would look great in a man cave.

I agree Mike.  I figure if I have to redo some of the side panels anyways, may as well start from scratch and make it stand out a little more.  The only thing I will keep is probably the stop since that thick t-molding is on there nice and tight.  I will still save all of the other pieces of wood, just have it broke down in storage in case I ever sell it and someone wants the original.

Now I just need to find out the dimensions of those vinyl stickers and how to get them made.  Any suggestions from someone on here that is a miracle worker?

What type of wood is the easiest to paint?  I assume I should go with a primer coat.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
