First Time Builder Project

Started a small simple build with an old laptop.  it lays flat like on the table and you are looking down like a cocktail cab.  My problem now is the monitor that it comes with is not as bright as it used to be. I thought it would be enough but its not. any suggestions?

What size is that area for the Monitor?

I would definitely mount the screen as close to the top of that box as you can get it (if not using plexi, right flush with the top. That might help in the brightness area. Also, may sound like a dumb question, but did you adjust the levels on the monitor itself? Where the monitor is sitting would seem to make it susceptible to shadows, and leaning over it probably doesn't help in that department either.

the screen is 8 3/4x11 3/4 inches.  the space is 11 7/8x14 7/8 inches.  its the screen that came with the Acer laptop I am using.  I may just take it out and use it for a bartop instead.  save the build for  a screen with better viewing angles.  I actually mounted the screen with enough space to put plexi on it.

Yeah thats probably a good idea, maybe if you were not looking strait down at the screen it would work better.  If you want to keep this build I would find a lcd screen that is brighter to stick in there, with it's smaller size I would maybe look for screens that go into cars, if you can find a slave lcd car tv I'm sure you can find a way to mount it and hook it up to a computer.
