Aussie F1 legend passes away
« on: May 21, 2014, 08:46:21 pm »

I don't know if many people outside of Australia have heard of Jack Brabham, but he passed away recently at 88. He was a three time winner of Formula One, and is still the only driver in history to have won in a car he built. A true Aussie icon. R.I.P

Yeah you are right.

88 is pretty good, especially after breathing in those exhaust fumes over the years.

Well we are all have to go sometime.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

Best description I've heard since his passing was from Phil Branagan who simply said "You know Michael Schumacher and Ross Brawn? Imagine they were the one person."

A brilliant driver who won 3 world championships.
A brilliant engineer who built the car he won his last championship in.
Never argue with an idiot, he'll just drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Was gonna say - 3 time world driver champion.  he won more than 3 races.  I think he was more like 88 rather than 68?

Very sad time for F1.  Better a long and full life than an abrupt end in a shunt on track. Word from a Jackie Stewart interview on SkyF1 this weekend says Brabham wasn't doing so well when he last saw him at the Aussie GP. Sad, but inevitable I'm afraid.

Oops! Yeah won 3 championships, not 3 races! Although even getting to race in F1 is pretty cool.

One thing's for sure, he will remain the only guy to win a championship in his own car.
