I'm going today to pick up a 29" (27" viewable) presentation monitor.
Edit: Proton VM-290 27" Color monitor:

It's got BNC's and a 9 pin RGB on the back, along with AV in.

I'd like to drive this with BNC/RGB, as I heard it'll be the clearest picture.

My question is this:
A) Should I get an ArcadeVGA to do this?
B) Where can I get a cable for the BNC or the 9 pin RGB to interface with the ArcadeVGA card (or wahtever card I need)

Thanks in advance.

I picked it up today.

Here's a link to the auction the guy had (fortunately for me, the bidder backed out).
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2764576197

to sum it up, there's 3 inputs

One with ONE BNC and TWO RCA's for audio.
One with 3 RCA's.

and one 9 pin RGB input.

There's also a swtich that points to the RGB input to switch between positive/negative sync polarity.

It's a Proton VM-290.

What's the best plan of attack?

Thanks!

Also: If anyone has a datasheet on this monitor (i've been unable to find one), please let me know.. Thanks! :-D

Probably looking at composite here.  Not what you want.

It doesn't say "TTL" on it anywhere does it?  If not, you are probably best off with an ArcadeVGA card and the pre-labeled cable.  Wire it to a DB-9 (grab a pinout off the web for a 9-pin VGA connector) and cross your fingers.  If the unit isn't multi-sync, you may have to live with some resolutions being unavailable, but this varies with different monitors.

No it definitely doesn't say TTL anywhere.

I've been looking non stop for the past 2 days for any technical information on the VM-290, and have found NOTHING. :(

I've got some messages in on the forums for Ultimarc, but I figured this was what I was going to have to do anyways.

We'll see..

I'll tell you this tho.  I went to pick it up, the guy hooked a dreamcast to the composite connection, and the picture was BEAUTIFUL.. Can't WAIT to see the RGB connection on this monitor.

Now I just have to build the cabinet.... :-/ (Won't fit in my defender, unfortunately :-D)
