Hantarex MTC 900 WIdth Control
« on: April 24, 2014, 01:33:39 am »
Hi,

I seem to have an issue with a monitor I just picked up.
Picture is fine, vertical controls work fine... Only, the width control (RV18) does not seem to do anything. I can move the picture left or right using RV14, but the moving pot to adjust the width seems to have no effect. The picture is more or less in the middle, I would like to stretch it so it fills the screen.

I've measured the pot, that seems to be working fine.

So far I've recapped the E/W board an replaced TR18 and TR19. TR20 was not available at my local electronics store. Although I knew it probably wouldn't solve my problem, while I was at it I recapped most of the chassis.

Any clues what to check next?  ???

The monitor manual and schematic I've been using is this one: http://www.vernimark.com/arcade/archive ... mtc900.pdf

Thanks!

I'm a :tool:

Ok, so I recapped the monitor, rebuilt E/W etc...
Now, reinstalled the chassis again and I was goind over everything again. I was wondering of any of the width corrections were working so I turned RV20 and bam... this is the width control.

The manual has width and pincushion controls mixed up  :banghead:. RV18 is pincushion and RV20 is width. Duh! I'm feeling kind of dumb now :)
However, a cap kit didn't hurt the monitor. I'm happy now :)
