New Computer - VGA CRT Monitor
« on: December 23, 2013, 07:13:44 pm »
I'm looking to buy a new computer for my cab. The current one won't boot anymore and is nearly 10 years old.

My current CRT is a computer monitor with a VGA input, and I have no intention of replacing it.

Should I make sure that any replacement computer has VGA out included on the motherboard? I noticed a lot of modern towers have HDMI or something else, but not VGA.

I'd hate to upgrade the computer and find out afterwards that the video output is going to be negatively impacted by using an hdmi to vga converter.

Thanks,
Joseph Elwell.

If you do not plan on updating the monitor, then it would be in your best interest to get a pc with vga.
Lots of motherboards still have vga or dvi and you can use a vga converter.
why not just buy a used pc with vga. something a little older but not as old as what you had.

If you have the ability, check out government surplus auctions. I bought a PALLET of LCD monitors for $10.

I took 4 home, a friend took 4 home, and I left 9 at work.

the guy wouldn't just let me take a few of them  :lol
