Looking to get the software that I've paid for to run on non-megatouch hardware.  let me know if there is anyone working on this, and I will be happy to contribute

First, What version software are you running? Second, What was damaged?

If your monitor is broken (glass or yoke) its going to cost you more in parts/shipping then its worth.

I make 15" lcd touch screen units that you just drop into these old cabinets.

Bigger screen, alot lighter, more game options and can be converted to latest Force and Ion versions with minimal hardware upgrades.

Maxx.  The screen is cracked and motherboard won't power up (even tried switching PSU's).  Thinking it's a lost cause.

I read in this thread you had been working on a bypass. I was able to remove a couple of checks to boot VMware into X and see a "touchscreen controller error" message. I tried making a dummy /dev/twscreen0(1,2,3,4) device and now I just see an all-black screen and no error.  Wanted to see if you ever got any further.

what i would do
is hook an lcd display to it first,this will tell u if the mobo is out..
them mobo boards are perty rugged,they can as a rule take a kicking and keep on ticking..
if u do not get signal to the lcd then back track..remove mobo,and psu
and set it on a bench,then making everything is down tight,try it again
if it come's up then try what mike said above about swapping to fource
and or go to flebay and get a used monitor with the overlay on  it..
there cheap enough now..
lord know's u can buy a complete and running maxx for under 400.00
about 300.00 + shipping
but i would do the test's first

Thanks for the advice. I fix computers on the side, so I'm pretty well-versed at troubleshooting them.  I tried hooking up the mobo to another power supply but it will not power up with either power supply, which leads me to believe the board is fried. The megatouch PSU will power a regular desktop board. I don't want to shell out $300 for a new machine, that's why I'm trying my best to open up the software .

ok fiar enough
but there is a boat load of test's u can do to what look's like a dead mobo
before thinking it is dead
a=reseat
b=remove bios bat
c=remove ram
what u want to know is where is my beep
short the power  on pin's to see if the supply will come on
short the psu power on wire to ground to make sure the psu is indeed working
remove harddrive to see if it is pulling the board down
remove riser card to see if it is pulling mobo down
u see there is a boat load of test's to go through first
before u decide to play with the layer s/w of merit..no matter how versed u are in linux
1 wrong kernel push and u own a drive full of non working s/w
then u truly will need a disk..which btw there is no such thing as a rescue disk for maxx
ie the layer is put on by merit
and the game is over ran on that layer
what u get is the basic game game's disk
but by no mean's do u get the format disk
merit held that back..and under request we are not to talk about the layer
