seems to me like the CD has all the different partition images on there. in /lib/images/partX.gz.000 etc. I was able to copy these to a new drive on vmware and booted into linux.

ed12:
all of that is correct
but u mised a point
the underlaying layer >makes it a merit xx drive format<
is missing
so the disk is basic game disk with all the :call's: to the .img it will and dose expect
>merit<...
its about that simple..
ask yourself a question before u answer
why do think there is a hudge call for used merit drive's that work ?
point to flebay ?merit and or megatouch/merit
u will catch on fast

Using partimage (not the CD installer), I restored all the images to their respective partitions.  I also made a swap partition on hda3.  On first boot, it complained about not finding hda7, which I then created.  After rebooting again, it told me my /var partition (hda7) was corrupted, and it restored it for me.  Seems like /var contains the actual megatouch binary "start".  As far as I can tell, all the files are there.

I'm not sure what you mean about an extra layer.  Honestly, I think there is a demand for these drives because nobody knows how to correctly partition one.  I wish I had a working machine so I could test my theory.

What ed is trying to say is that the firmware on the MAXX systems hard drives are modified. You need to change the hard drives model/serial ID's. Or find the hard drive ID check in the software and patch it out.

I dont have a Maxx mobo, hard drive, or key to test either.

Also, since your touchscreen monitor is broke you cant use the software anyway untill you replace it. No way getting around using the software without a touchscreen.

You could buy a used 15" 3m microtouch capacitive touchscreen, Ion compatiable mobo, and an Ion key for less then the shipping cost of these old 13" Maxx monitors.

would you be so kind as to direct me to which parts you are talking about?
