RFC (Request for Characters)
« on: November 26, 2003, 08:57:41 am »
Hello all!

I'm about in the middle of building my own MAME cabinet, and it's time to start thinking about a name and artwork.  Welp, here's my idea:

"Ghost Arcade" is the name, and a collage of ghosts and spectres is the game.

(I know it's running "MAME" but everyone else is the same and my sense of individuality is to blame, and maybe the promise of fame....   Man, this is lame. :))

Anyway, I'm looking for ideas on what characters can go into this thing.  I'm thinking a collage of ghosts/spectres/misc spectoral baddies with a big white spectre-type thing, of my own design, in the background...hopefully tying them all together.

There's the obvious ones: Pacman ghosts, Ghouls and Goblins, Gauntlet....

What other ones are out there?  I'm not looking for MAME/Arcade-specific ones, but other ones too from any of the pre 128bit/x86 consoles like n64, nes, psx, tgfx, etc.

I would need ones that I would be able to find suitable artwork for tracing via Frosty's wonderful tutorial, if the vector artwork doesn't already exists on Matrix's site.

So, have some fun thinking of cool games that you (used to?) play.. If you come up with anything, share it here :)

  Thanks!

/Steve

Zombies ate my Neighbors
Fester's Quest (Or any Adams Family game)
CastleVania games had some undead
Gargoyle Game for gameboy... forgot the name
A personal fav, the graveyard scene from Simpsons
Another instantly recongnizeable one is the Ghost Houses from Super Mario World...

My games: Tapper, Asteroids, Cocktail-MAME, Tron, ROTJ, Tempest, Star Wars (not working)
My wants: Warlords Cocktail

Can't have a ghost theme without Ghostbusters in it.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

Gargoyle Game for gameboy... forgot the name

Gargoyle's Quest.

Someone, I forgot who, had a spooking looking marquee started.  It had the castle from dragons lair in the background.  I thought the (some of the) Scooby Doo cast in his...yours might be different
