Modified Xbox Encoder - Kits and Full Builds available
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:46:48 pm »
Hello All,

For those of you who like to build bartops out of old original xboxes, I have a new alternative to the j-stick hack.

With the permission and genius of Degenetron we came up with this little gadget.

It's available in full build or in kit form.  Anyone with decent solder skills can build one of these, the kits will come with everything you need.  The board will be etched and pre-drilled and and tinned, so assembly is a snap, can be built in about an hour or so.  I have less than a month of solder skills and the prototype turned out pretty good.

  • Plug and Play
  • No individual ground needed
  • Left, Right, Up, Down, A, B, X, Y, Black, White, Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Start, Back (Sorry no analog, or thumb buttons
  • Up to 4 simultaneous button presses with no blocking
  • No lag
  • Encoder chips can be replaced via sockets, new chips = brand new rig
  • Tested with Street Fighter, Killer Instinct and other multiple button intensive games, and movements were very precise
  • Durable
  • Easy to wire terminals, terminals for each button are side by side so no guessing

Keep in mind this is not to replace the xbox j-stik hack, As I have a level of respect for those who provide us with that awesome service.  This is more of a project build for those who want to build their own encoders and or want something different in their setup.

Was asking $20.00+shipping for kits and $30.00+shipping for full builds.  PM me if interested.
