MAME: Save cpu overclock settings or create cheat
« on: August 08, 2011, 04:55:46 pm »
I love the games Double Dragon 1 and Double Dragon 2, but I can't stand the slowdowns. I see two solutions for the slowdowns, which I tried to research with no result.

1. Slider controls
Here you can overclock the cpus. The values aren't saved though :(. Do I have to enable an option, or is there a diff file ?

2. Create a cheat
I guess this should also be possible. My problem is that I have the option to enable or disable cheats, but not to create one. Isn't that part of the official releases ? Do I need another build ?

I'm currently using MAME 0.141. I do know how to compile my own version and add diffs to the source. Any help is appreciated.

Searching "cruisin usa overclock" doensn't give return a useful link for me. Care to post the link ;) ?

If you mean this link:
http://members.shaw.ca/kelvsyc/cheatguide.html
I don't have the option "Add/Edit a New Cheat" in the official build.

Hi there,

I was just looking for the same thing. I looked through the cruising USA post but it seemed too complicated for me. Since that post is almost 10 years old I was just hoping there might have peen a nicer solution.
I have found bits and pieces around on the web but nothing very conclusive.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Pete

The slowdowns in DD1/2 (especially 2) should be significantly less in a current version (0.151) anyway due to new information fwiw..  (just incase anybody finds this in Google when looking for information about DD slowdowns)

The official cheats page / forum is still http://cheat.retrogames.com/  They have a forum where you can ask whatever you want about the cheat engine or specific cheats.

The current cheat system (unfortuantely) uses only the debugger to create / find cheats rather than the easier to use internal interface of the past so those old guides won't work, no.
