Dead Space Invaders cocktail
« on: October 28, 2013, 09:30:21 am »
A barcade just opened in my area, and I've been given the opportunity to try and fix some stuff. I know enough to be dangerous and can usually figure out problems that I can see manifesting themselves on-screen, but the ones that don't boot up are a little intimidating to dig into. Case in point, this Space Invaders cocktail.

The guys who owns the bar *thinks* it worked when they picked it up, and now that it's been moved it isn't powering on. We've checked all the fuses (there was a 1.5amp fuse that was broken in half that we've replaced with no luck) and I've poked around with the obvious stuff, like making sure that the switch that kills the game when the coin door is open wasn't shorting out. I feel like this has got to be a weird connection somewhere, if it stopped working after moving it. Once I've got a few hours to really dig into it, I figure I will trace things backwards from the power cord and see if I can find a lose wire or broken solder joint somewhere. Anyone have any specific suggestions for me? I'm absolutely learning as I go on all of this stuff so I might be a little newb-ish on a lot of this stuff, but I'm 100% interested in being able to tackle all of these things on my own in the future!

I thought maybe someone was building a cocktail combining the themes of the current-gen game "Dead Space" and "Space Invaders." Hmm...

Anyway, cool opportunity to learn, with the barcade and all. Good luck with the repairs!

I was soooooo hoping that was the case. Any takers? Isaac on the side of the cabinet, perhaps?

When you lose, necromorph spikes shoot out and gut the player?  Hmmm...
