Monitor has no frame, can I use wood?
« on: October 23, 2013, 07:29:29 pm »
I got a hanatrex polo monitor with chassis but no frame, was gonna use some angle iron or metal bars from home depot and rig a solid one up. But I saw another user make a frame out of wood.

Is there any harm in using wood?

As long as you don't have any metal screws in the wood touching the metal on the monitor, you shouldn't have any issues.

the problem with wood comes with the size of the tubes .  a 29 or 33 inch tube + chassis + frame will be around 30 kg weight , so everything has to be done very solid . from electrical point of view there isnt a prob with wood. all radios , tvs from the sixties
are using a wooden cases  . a metal mounting frame is sturdy and build in no time . u only have to be careful with the isolation .
