OK so the assclown who had the house before me decides to build a basement wall across the face of the furnace access panel. We call him out on it and he throws in an access panel before close of escrow .

But.... He realizes that not only has he put drywall across the front of the furnace but a stud too. So he builds an opening that only went up to the edge of the stud making it useless.
I was installing a Nest thermostat over the weekend and noticed that the 24vac line from the furnace is dead. So I go down to check the fuse on the control board and sure enough I couldn't get the access panel off because this guys ---smurfy--- job still had the stud running down the right hand side of the face of the furnace.
So, I bust out the Hilti and rip that ---smurf--- up and down until the stud falls out (you can see the cut stud in the photo). Pull the panel find the 3A blade for the 24vac line and sure enough it was blown.
New fuse. HVAC and Nest working perfectly. Crack a beer and drink a toast to the power tool gods.
