re: dodonpachi 2 - bee storm, use a newer version then, been working for a long time now.

re: Naomi, you won't want to use MAME, emulation is preliminary and very slow, use Demul.  Be aware that Demul certainly won't run at any acceptable level on a P4, you need a MUCH better system including a very good video card for proper emulation (A *fast* DX11 card is recommended and that also means you'll need Win7)

re: Type X, it isn't emulation, it's just cracked PC software (ripped from arcade machines) with the security checks etc. taken out, it's closer to what you see with 0-day PC cracked STEAM releases on TPB than anything emulation related. I won't say anything more, because I assume the forum has rules against that type of thing.

re: Blitz, I'm not sure that many people want to play it, but it is considered a pretty good indicator that your MAME box is up to scratch and you're not going to have an issues with anything else except the really silly cases where you can't even buy a suitable CPU.  I'm not convinced it's actually the most relevant game to set that bar these days but it is one people like to use.

That makes sense. I am not into football games, but if I wanted to play a 3D football game on a killer rig I would probably just buy last years version of whatever the good football series is these days on Amazon for $3, it would have to be better than Blitz.

Hey
Ok, so many do not like blitz..... :)  Now back to the questions at hand..... what is a dx11 chip???? do you mean direct x 11? I thought that was software?

I have checked out "gaming rigs" online and I am very shocked at how many different CPU's are out there now! OMG!!! there is so many.... I am more confused then ever! lol....

yes, DX11 means DirectX 11, if you want to run Demul properly you need a card capable of supporting all the DirectX 11 features properly.

This might sound overkill but the technology is developing to the point where modern cards are almost fully programmable and if you're going to do accurate emulation using the video card that's exactly the type of functionality you need rather than trying to approximate original hardware features with features available on the card.

If/when MAME has 3D acceleration it will need a similar level of hardware, simply because this is the first generation of hardware really suited to trying to do accurate emulation.

Love me some DoDonPachi. Cave for the win!
