  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I got finally my delivery from US. I ordered from T-molding.com slotting cutter 1/16" 3-Wing and slotting cutter arbor 1/4". Unfortunatelly the slotting cutter arbor 1/4" does not fit into my 6 mm router shaft.

Yes, 1/4" is 6,35 mm – not 6,00 mm, but I believed such a difference will not matter. I was wrong. Did anyone have the same problem? Any ideas?

You might need a 'collet' extension, or similar (if I understand your post fully) - have a look here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3872.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=Router+Collet+Extension&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Could t-molding.com help here? Not sure ...

Some kind of adaptor/extension may be the solution - there are one or two suitable on hyperlink given but these go over 50 GBP (plus no postage out of UK - I am Czech Rep. based).

I bought this arbor from T-molding: http://www.t-molding.com/store/product.php?productid=54&cat=6&page=1. Is there an alternative available with 6 or 8 mm shank instead of 1/4" shank in UK?

Where do you guys buy T-molding instalation tools in UK? I bought it in USA because I could not find it anywhere in Europe..

Thank you.

After some research I found out I only need 1/4 inch collet for my router. It sells on ebay.co.uk for 5,87 GBP only + FREE UK delivery:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trend-CLT-T3-635-Collet-6-35mm-1-4-Inch-T3-/290950511235?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item43be007a83

But again, no delivery to Czech Republic....  :banghead:

I know CMT Tools manufacture slot cutters with 6 and 8 mm arbors:
http://www.cmtutensili.com/show_items.asp?pars=RB~~2~2~2
Maybe you can just look up an arbor that is compatible with your slot cutter. I'm fairly sure there is a CMT Tools reseller in your country.

Realized this has been solved, but thought I'd throw this out there for anyone else who comes across this thread.  Lee Valley sells router bits with 8mm shanks (no 6mm though).
