Help! Photoshop. DWG Control Panels and Me!
« on: June 13, 2013, 08:00:37 am »

Hi. Lot of clever chaps on here [ not seen any ladies as yet :( ]

Does anyone know how I would go about taking my DWG(Autocad) file for my control panel and getting an image from it for Photoshop/other that is the right size and high resolution (300+dpi) so that I can design my CP overlay that will print to the correct size of the panel ?
Or if someone could do it for me I would be most grateful.

Kind regards

CJ

Send me a copy of the file (or Download Link) and I'll see what I can  do for you ! (Also if you have the dimensions for the CP include them just to ensure the dwg file has it the proper size) I'll create a template of the CP for you at actual size @300DPI. To ensure that it is accurate once you receive it print a test copy on scrap paper and check before starting your work ( Should be correct when I send it to you but always best to check just in case !!) When I send you back the file I'll include some explanation of the process used but just want to make sure it works as planned first. (will most likely open the .dwg and then export to .pdf (since Trueview can export to .pdf) and then from pdf into PS and adjust the dimensions as needed for the template.

.png version attached and e-mailed along with a link to a .psd version but that was above the 25MB attachment limit on my E-mail account so uploaded to dropbox and e-mailed link. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

If you want to try converting it yourself in the future I use Any DWG to Image Converter.  It's worked great for me.

Hi I want to do this . How does that work ? Does it retain the size of the DWG object ?
