The Encyclopedia of Arcade Video Games is in my hands
« on: November 07, 2003, 07:34:36 pm »
and its a pretty good book. The sections are split up by groups of years:
72-76: birth of video games
77-79: invaders from space
80-82: the pac man years
83-85: the experimental years
86-present: the modern era

then a couple more small chapters on collecting and owning games...lots of pictures!
5 MAME cabs and counting...

Ever wonder what full side art looks like?

If this is the "Ultimate History" by Kent, then it is on my Christmas list.  I haven't heard of "Encyclopedia".  I wonder how it compares.

This is not the Ultimate History...this is a new book that came out about a week and a half ago:

 ;D

.....I just got my copy yesterday.....it's a nice book BUT the quality of the photos overall is amazingly poor.

For example there are many photos that are badly bit mapped, faded or literally look like a xerox of an old photo.

I was very surprised to see a horrible black and white photo of a Donkey Kong Machine. The pics on mame are in many instances 100% better than in this book.

All in all, I'm happy with it (because of the lack of books like this one)....but again, the photo quality is a big disappointment.

MameMaster!  :'(
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?
