DVD PC PROBLEM!!!!
« on: November 14, 2003, 05:52:33 pm »
Ok here is my problem.  My main pc, wich I use for a multimedia device.  I have it hooked up to my tv. It's great for the console emulation.  I might even have a movie on one of the harddrives.   Well I got a new dvd drive for it 6 months ago. (btw this is what I use for a dvd player and hope to use as a tivo type device) Well it worked great up until a couple of months ago.

I will list what it is doing.

Older DVDs no problems runs great.

Newer DVDs..when I play them I get the blue screen of death. This could happen a min. or an hour in to the movie.
To watch a new dvd I have to uncheck the DMA setting on the drive in win control pannel.

Ok I got the Tron 20th anv. DVD.  It playes the movie no problem.  If I try to watch the extra stuff on disc two it has the same problem. as a newer one.
I can watch the matrix no problem..reloaded problem.

Any one got a clue? I know I don't.

What operating system? How much memory? What DVD drive?
I had problems with mine also. But mine would just freeze the picture. Since I upgraded to Windows 2000 and a newer (read:faster) system it works fine. Have you searched google for the model number and blue screen? That is usually what I do. See if you can find anyome else with the problems. I would recommend trying to see if there is a driver update or software update also. Good luck.
