New Makvision CRT questions
« on: May 02, 2013, 01:05:10 am »
Hey friends,

So a few weeks ago I installed my new Makvision 27" CRT, the 800x600 res model. I have some questions about what kind of picture quality I should be seeing...

The monitor seems pretty sharp and crisp in the center, but as the pixels radiate outward the picture gets fuzzier almost as if there is more of a gap in between each pixel and also the edges have a slight wave back and forth to them. When games are running and in motion it's hard to notice, but you can see it when the picture is static. It's not terrible and none of my friends seem to notice until I point it out. Is this normal or what?

Here is a pic, really hard to capture but you can kinda see how fuzzy the date/time and shortcuts are.

Thanks!

I would be interested also to know as I have exactly the same on my 25" CRT monitor.  ??? ???

You may want to read this thread.  Your picture isn't good enough to tell, but it looks pretty normal to me.

Awesome news! Like I mentioned, its totally tolerable, especially when games are in motion. I just wanted to make sure. Glad it's the norm, because I really didn't want to deal with shipping and dealing with replacing this sucker!

Thanks!

One more thing: it's tough to tell from the picture, but it looks like you may need to turn the contrast down (a lot).  Pictures can be misleading in this regard, but I know these monitors are famous for being shipped cranked way too high.  It won't be as bright once you've got it set more reasonably, but it should look a bit better.
