Wiring to i-pac, PLEASE HELP
« on: March 29, 2013, 03:45:29 am »
I'm new to the mame scene and i'm really trying to get advice on all areas of the mame cabinet, i know how i want it to look and the wood work design, now i'm up to the control panel, i want a 2 player control panel, 2 joy sticks, 7 player buttons each, a coin button each, a start button each, and 1 or 2 player buttons. (if anyone thinks i need any more please let me know! I WANT TO KNOW!)

Now i what i want to know is where do you plug in buttons like the 1 or 2 player buttons? and when you go to get into a game and you have to choose wether you want 1 or 2 players, how does it know what button it is that your pressing? because i know there is not a slot for those ones in in i-pac.

i might have more questions as you answer in the comments, so sorry if i get annoying

You can set the inputs to use what ever button you need, just go into the Mame settings. The Ipac has a 1p and 2p start button.

From my experience to play 2 players you just insert coins and press the p2 start button. I wasn't aware that there is a actual "I want to play 2 players button" I may be confused by your question also.

There are inputs for p1 and p2 start and coin drop.

You will also want an escape button probably, there's an input for that too.

Check the info page for the ipac 2 on the ultimark site, it shows all the inputs on there.

As said above tho, its also programmable using winipac.

I think this is where the confusion lies...The start button and the p1 & p2 buttons are the same buttons. Sometime a game tells you to press the start buttons, this refers to the P1 and P2 buttons (key 5 and key 6 on a keyboard), these are on the ipac. Additionally sometimes a game says to press the start button and it is refering to the player 1 button 1, or player 2 button 1, however this is rare but you may encounter it. This is no button that is only a START button, other then the P1 and P2 buttons.
