Arcade VGA 3000 - Flickering Issues
« on: February 26, 2013, 12:34:16 am »
Hello folks!

I was originally running my ArcadeVGA through Groovy Arcade live cd. But decided to switch to Windows because I wanted to use Hyperspin.

When running through Groovy Arcade it looks beautiful on my WG 3000 monitor. Perfect 1:1 pixel mapping and it looks better than any arcade I've seen in recent memory.

But when switching to Windows, I followed the directions at http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainst.html .. specifically running mame with the command line options -videoddraw -nohwstretch -switchres  ... There's a huge flicker when Mame starts.

I have been using the Tapper rom to test. The ArcadeVGA driver is installed. My windows resolution is 640x480 - which has quite a flicker as well, but that's to be expected at that resolution (I think).

I've also tried editing my ini file and adding in all the suggested parameters.

I'm able to remove the flicker if I turn on hardware scaling and force 320x240 resolution - but that takes away the whole point of buying this card.

Any ideas?
