Hey you android phone people
« on: February 07, 2013, 01:30:35 pm »
What would cause my phone NOT to get texts from a specific number?  I can send this number texts and they get them, but I don't recieve.  I am also able to send and receive texts to / from other numbers.   :banghead:

Not sure. I couldn't reply to my wife...so I ended up sending her a new text and that went though. Have you had them send you a new text as well as reply to one?

I'll try the new text thing.

Oddly enough, a picture text could get through, just not a regular text.

Maybe just double check the number didn't accidentally get put into the blacklist or some type of direct to voice mail list.

I know in some roms like cm7 the send to blacklist option showed up in the long press where you would find copy /paste etc. So it was easy to accidentally add a number.

What's yours and the other parties carrier? Did this just start or did one of you get a new device? Is other person running android too? Does other person have your number with a "1"-***-***-**** in their contacts? And is your number labeled as "mobile" and not home or office in their phone book?

I would call your carrier with the number of the person that tried to text you and specific times the attempts were made to make it easy for them to check their logs and see if it's a network issue on their end.

good day.

Ive had this happen when I didnt have the Area Code in the contacts.  Once the area code was put in, the
text went through.

Both the same exact carrier, same phone for that matter.

Ended up calling them, had to go through and reset the MSID on my phone, after that, there was a flood of texts on my phone that I had missed through the day.

Ahaa. Tech support might've done/asked you to do that.  Didn't know what MSID was:

A mobile station ID (MSID) is a number that is associated with the home service provider and the wireless phone number. This is reprogrammed when the user changes home service providers. It can also be called the Mobile identification number (MIN) and is not to be confused with the Mobile Directory Number (MDN) in the CDMA world, which is the device's telephone number.

---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- ain't enough on mine. I sometimes gotta delete the contact AND any texts, re-enter the contact.......

Always enter the area code when you dial/text a number. That way when you want to add them, there's likely no [future] hitch.

 Yup.  Had that happen too.

I wonder if its a flash corruption error... or just really pathetic programming...

I think it's an oversight in Android, possibly because of different phone styles. I'm still on Froyo.EC05. Seems better than Eclair. I didn't like Gingerbread's interface, everything was too small/not bold enough (and I have pretty good vision), and it didn't fix the issues I was having with some stock apps that I prefer over 3rd party ones. Especially the camera: they took the 'mute shutter sound' feature off the stock Android camera.....Android Central folks told me because fems were gettin all butt hurt about their picture bein taken without warning.
