I second the motion of TMNT. It is a simple cabinet to build and not overbuilt like so many of the custom 4 player designs seem to be. It has enough room to expand the number of buttons, however you won't need more than 6 for player 1 and 2 and more than 4 for player 3 and 4. The Genesis was the last console that had games that generally played well with arcade controls. The Snes and everything newer has shoulder buttons that often have a directional effect in the game and that translates terribly to arcade controls, which is why the arcade version of the SNES (The Super System) had gamepads on the control panel.
