« on: November 02, 2012, 02:06:26 pm »
my romlister wont read 7z zips, the 0.147 roms package i got from a source are all converted now to 7z to save space.
but the bloody romlister wont list them  :banghead:

any idea as to why? i got the most updated version of it 027

does anyone know of a good listing software xml.... that will list 7z as well as regular zips?

This was solved in email, but for any future explorers here, the quick-n-dirty fix is to simply rename *.7z to *.zip and then use the rom scan utility.  ROMLister doesn't actually look inside the "zip" files, it only cares about the filename itself when doing the scan function.

Just remember to rename 'em back to .7z after you're done!

yep it worked for me fine solved the issue "renamer" is a good program version 5.6 if i remember correctly.
, btw is it possible to add to an existing list without having to scan the whole folder using romlister or is editing the list manually to add a few games each time the only way?

what i'd do in this case is put the new zips (7z's in your case) into a separate folder and run the rom scan utility there.  Once that is done, you will essentially have a brand new xml file.  All you'd need to do then is copy-n-paste the new data into the first xml file that it created.  still a pain in the cheeks but probably a timesaver since that particular function is slooow.
