Sampo Monitor
« on: October 22, 2003, 05:29:54 pm »
Does anyone out there know a good site that might have assorted monitor specs? (clock values etc.)

I just pickied up a start trek cabinet that has a Sampo KGR 1901H monitor in it, and i'm trying to find the correct clock values to set up advmame on it.  I tried Google with no luck :(

thanks

whoa buddy... Isn't star trek a vector game?  Wouldn't that make (most likely -- unless converted a few times over) that monitor a vector monitor and NOT raster?

*Shrug* just wondering.

yep, your right, it was a vector, but the cab was converted from startrek to Vigilante at some point... the sampo monitor was put in then i would guess... it has a manufactured date of '82 (the monitor that is) it works perfectly, i just need to find some specs for it since the generic 15.75 low res settings for advance mame are wayyyyyy off, i need the exact clock rates :)

thanks

My suggestion, unless you find the magical clock rate info... is to use the ADVV utility to "manualy" dial in the resolutions/clock rates for AdvanceMame.

It's a pain, but it's cheaper than an AVGA, eh?

purple mame page has a good walkthrough

you're in DOS i assume, using Advancmame, some sort of VGA cable hack (or j-pac?)... and ? ? ? ? video card?

*shrug* sorry I couldn't be more help.

PS glad you arne't trying to send raster to a vector monitor *phew*  =)

yeah, lol, i'm an ol'hat at advmame/advv. I already have a mame cab set up with all perfect display settings on advmame.  It's just that if you don't get fairly close with the clock rates to start, it's a much more tedious proccess.  I'm heading over to a local arcade supplier (open to the public 1 night a week) tonight to see if they have a manual for my sampo monitor.  In the past i've had good luck finding the clock rates on various websites, but no go with this particular brand.

Of course, if they have some Jamma boards laying around tonight for a good price, i might have to pick them up :)

Sorry, didn't mean to come off like i wasn't thankfull for the help :)

And your right, Las Vegas's site (purple mame) is a wealth of info.

It did occur to me this afternoon to try it with an ATI card i had laying around, as that might do a better job at coming pretty close with the default advcfg settings for a 15.75 monitor.

If i find a manual tonight i'll post the clock rates incase some other person runs across this monitor in a cab redo
