What material to use to cover control panel and marquee?
« on: November 18, 2012, 02:11:19 pm »
What material do you use to cover your control panel? I do not plan on using plexi on top.

What material do you use to make your marquee that sticks to the plexi and allows light through?

To protect the CP without plexi, choose a printer like GoG that offers polycarbonate lamination.

For the marquee, many printers like GoG or Emdkay offer adhesive backed translights.  Some also offer reverse printing so you can mount it on the inside of a single piece of plexi.

I've used Lamin-x clear 40mm with great success. Especially, useful for protecting artwork on control panels and covering curved surfaces where plexi wouldn't be a good option.

Umm, you meant 40 mil, right? (0.040")

I'm all for making your system bulletproof, but I hope nobody's :whap on their CPO so much that they need 40mm of protection.  ;D

Lamin-X .com.  You can get em by the roll or precut pieces for less. I use to use them for car headlight protection. Tough stuff.

You have a photo of that on a control panel? I'd love to see what it looks like.

Hi,
I will cover my control panel  (in fact the polycarbonate sheet covering the panel itself) with a sheet of carbon fiber.
