Help please?
« on: October 07, 2003, 10:19:07 pm »
I'm trying to post to "project announcements" but no matter how much I shrink my pic it come out HUGE on the thread. I know this has been answered --BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type-- but how to I post a pic so that it fits nicely on a normal size page I know from experience what a pain in the bum huge pics can be on this forum  ;D
Thanks folks.

How are you trying to "shrink your pic"?  Most program (Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop) do this through "image resize".

Thanks for thinking of this, by the way!  :)

Check the DPI on the picture, it should be at 72. If not lower it to that and save a copy.

Can't find DPI anywhere?
I'm using Microsoft photo editor and just clicking on "image" and then "resize" and then just reducing the size like npixels X npixels then saving and posting but it still comes out like twice the size of one page.
Arrrghhh I want to show off my beautiful new control panel, lol  ??? :-[
It's a jpeg by the way ( if that helps )

Dunno where it'd be in that app, but it definitely sounds like a DPI issue to me. I'd guess that the program you're using is more concerned with print quality, not how big the sucker is when you try to display it on screen.

I think I posted in some other thread...

go to www.photoisland.com

you can download a free program call the jpeg ceonverter...

it can convert pics from other formats... and resize... and quality settings... etc...

you can also do more than 1 files at a time...

I use that to resize my digi cam's pics when posting on the board... (cos it can automatically limit size to 640 x 480...)

hope it helps...

Yep it is one of the Powertoys:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Download the Image Resizer.

Also useful for converting pics from digital cameras before emailing to family.   :D
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.
