Newbie with mala/roms issues

Hi everyone,
I've recently bought a mame cabinet running with a mala front end.
This is all new to me so I've had a little look at the folder structure and menus.
I've added a few new roms to the folder where all the other roms are in zipped format the same as what's there but when I reboot, the new games are not on the mala front end menu.
I've tried to refresh the games list but that didn't work
What am I doing wrong?
