29" Makvision in a MAME cab... do I want this?
« on: July 18, 2012, 09:07:51 pm »
After my first foray into cab building, which was a nice success, I'm looking at building another but making it a lot nicer. Instead of a beat up old donor cab, 21" PC monitor and an X-Arcade dual stick that isn't even bolted down, I'm going for a Mameroom cabinet kit, custom controller, and 29" monitor. At least, that's what I want to do.

It looks like this: http://www.xgaming.com/store/arcade-parts-and-accessories/product/weiya-29-flat-screen-crt-arcade-monitor/ is my best option if I want a CRT. This system is going to be used mostly for four player games, like Simpsons, NBA Hangtime, and Golden Axe. As far as I can tell, those will all be OK with the 800x600 resolution of that screen. And it looks like it will bolt in to the cab no problem (I'll confirm with Mameroom).

Is there anything else I need to worry about? Do I need one of the ArcadeVGA cards?

Thanks in advance!
